Well, Palawan is best known as “The Last Frontier” most probably because it is the last of all natural treasures of the Philippines to have been fully explored by the tourist. The name Palawan is come from a Spanish word “Paragua” which likens the shape of the island to a closed umbrella. Palawan has one(1) city and twenty-three(23) municipalities; two(2) congressional districts and four hundred thirty-one(431) barangays. It is also the last unsettled area in the Philippines and the biggest province in the Philippines.
Palawan is home to many tribal groups such as Tau Batu, Batak, Tagbanua, Cuyonon, and Palawan tribes. A large population of Muslims also live in the southern part of Palawan. Palawan is a narrow archipelago of 7,107 islands border west of the Philippines.
Palawan is well-known as tourist destination because of its pristine beaches with its clear blue water, wonderful rock formations and mountains, and incredible natural landscapes. Palawan has many endangered species such as mousedeer, bearcat, hornbill, peacock and even eagle which only can be found in Palawan. In addition, there are various religions also in Palawan such as Christians, Islam, INC, Born again, Protestants, and others. Moreover, Palawan is an earthquake free area and one of the few relatively peaceful provinces of the Philippines. The crime rate is low and most Palaweños are contented to lead a simple lifestyles. The province of Palawan nowadays is a melting pot of migrants from various parts of the country. It is the perfect playground for adventurous kind of people. Lastly, It is a blessing from God and so we are thankful that as of now there is a “City in the forest” that existing only in the Philippines
